I took off on Saturday morning, flying through Cleveland to arrive at the Providence RI airport and to be pick up by my friend Paul Zangari.  Paul and I go back to about the summer of 1977, when I first started at the CBS all-news radio station in Providence.  Paul continues with a weekly “car talk” radio show called “Drive-Through Radio” and knows more about cars than almost anyone I know.But he didn’t know where my car was!

It turned out that Rex, the Passport Transport driver who had my car, met up with another transport driver in Florida (Ricky) and they realized they were both heading north with a half load.  So the two loads (maybe 4 to 6 cars total) were consolidated into one, and Ricky headed north with my car.  Except Passport forgot to change the tracking signal on my account, so as I was tracking “my” car online, it looked like it was headed back to Houston! Ooops!

In fact, my car was going north, but stopped in Virginia as the new driver fell ill there and could not continue.  Passport Transit fell over themselves to get another driving team to Virginia, and they picked up my car and drove in shifts to get my car to me in Rhode Island within the time agreed…
